Thiothrix
It is a filamentous,obligately aerobic mixotroph and sulfur-oxidizing Gammaproteobacterium. They oxidize sulfide and deposit sulfur granules internally, attach to substrates, produce gliding gonidia, and form rosettes.

Ecological Importance
The symbiotic association between E. cordatum and Thiothrix spp. has been observed to develop externally on the cecum nodule which was in an outpocketing of the digestive system.
