IMMUNOLOGIC ADJUVANT

Immunologic adjuvants are adjuvants incorporated into vaccine formulation to enhance the immunogenecity(ability to evoke an immune responce in vaccinated individual) of vaccine antigens. Term adjuvant was coined by RAMON. Term "adjuvant" is derived from latin word adjuvare meaning to help. Ramon serendipitously discovered concept of adjuvants in 1925 while producing diptheria antitoxin in horse.
