Proposed functions

N/A

Antigenic Nature used to produce antibodies

formalin-fixed A. pleuropneumoniae serotype 4 cells

Carrier Name

nil

Conjugation Method

nil

Antibodies

Mab 5E4

Antibody type and class

IgM

Assay System

Whole cell ELISA and slide agglutination tests

Cross-reactivity

This Mab failed to recognize surface epitopes located on other bacterial, such as H. parasuis, P. haemolytica, P. multocida capsular types A and D, Haemophilus taxon minor group, and A. suis, K. pneumoniae and B. bronchiseptica. This Mab reacted with only 24.2 and 13.8% of homologous isolates, respectively, but detected 63% of the total 12 serotype 7 isolates. A minor reactivity was observed with other serotypes

Proposed epitopes

N/A

Proposed Utility

This MAb could be useful for the serological diagnostic of animals infected with serotypes 4 and 7 by inhibition ELISA or competition ELISA. Moreover, they could be useful as complementary reagents to polyclonal sera for serotyping of field isolates belonging to A. pleuropneumoniae serotype 4 or 7
